Australia the movie

Watch the official trailers for Australia the movie, starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. Set in the magnificent red-earth country of Western Australia’s remote north, Australia the movie showcases much of the natural beauty, remoteness and fascinating history of the Australian outback.

The real Australia the movie

Discover the real Australia, Western Australia, the real home of Australia the movie.

In September 2007, Western Australia welcomed filmmaking legend Baz Luhrmann and Hollywood stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman to the magnificent Kimberley region to shoot scenes for Australia the movie.

The red and rugged Western Australian landscape creates a stunning backdrop for this epic romantic adventure movie, set around the bombing of Darwin in the Second World War.

Red earth country extends throughout most of Western Australia.  From the rugged Kimberly in the State’s north-west, all the way through the interior covering regions such as the Pilbara, Murchison-Gascoyne, Northern Goldfields, Kalgoorlie and parts of the Wheatbelt.

This area is the perfect location for adventure and self drive holidays. There is no greater freedom than hiring a four wheel drive adventure camper and setting off through some of Australia’s most authentic outback landscapes, meeting the local characters along the way.

Create your own epic journey through red earth country with the Australia’s Golden Outback 2008 Holiday Planner.

Australia the movie will be released 26 November 2008.
