For four wheel driving along vast white beaches, camping out under a star-filled sky, colourful wildflowers, whale watching and swimming at secluded bays, a visit to Cape Arid National Park east of Esperance is a must.
Historical collection housed in Dance Cottage Museum, Morgan Street, comprises extensive collection of photographs, footwear, memorabilia, hospital, mining and bakery equipment, kero lamps and irons. Outdoor display includes 1907 Buffalo Pitts steam traction engine.
There aren’t too many places in Australia where kangaroos sunbake on the beach, but at Cape Le Grand National Park this is just one of the many natural highs on offer. This pristine park near Esperance is known for its stunning scenery and idyllic beaches where you can go swimming, bushwalking, fishing and camping.
Nearly 100 untouched islands make up the stunning Recherche Archipelago off the coast of Esperance in the remote south east of Western Australia. Here, you can see amazing wildlife including sea eagles, and colonies of sea lions and fur seals which come here to breed.
The secluded beaches of Hopetoun on Western Australia’s far south coast are among the most pristine and untouched in the country. Here, it’s easy to find an entire stretch of coastline all to yourself for swimming, snorkelling and lazing on the sand.
This is a 40 kilometre tour for those with four wheel drive vehicles only. Its destination is Mt Short, which can be climbed. Along the way travelers can enjoy the pleasant local flora and mining relics.
The Peak Charles National Park is located 100 kilometres north west of Esperance. Peak Charles is an ancient granite peak and its companion, Peak Eleanora, provide superb views of the dry sandplain heaths and salt lake systems.
The Esperance Municipal Museum houses a unique collection of memorabilia dating back to the 1800s. See a range of interesting feature displays covering the region's early pioneering history, maritime exhibits and farm machinery.
These rocks, approximately 50 kilometres west of Balladonia, form natural fresh water catchments and an attractive picnic and camping spot. It is located approximately one kilometre north of the Eyre Highway and is sign-posted from there.
The Rotary Lookout at Esperance is located high on a granite outcrop, and offers expansive views of the surrounding coastal town and its magnificent beaches. Take in the spectacular vista of the remote islands of the Recherche Archipelago and the sweeping panorama of the town of Esperance.
