Destinations of the Golden Outback

Western Australia’s Golden Outback is truly a land of contrast. In the Gascoyne-Murchison region to the north, you can climb the the world’s largest rock, Mount Augustus (twice the size of Ayers Rock). And in the south you can walk on the whitest beaches in Australia at Cape Le Grand National Park, near Esperance.

The golden plains of the Wheatbelt region are dotted with quaint historic towns and unique billion-year-old granite outcrops. And in stark contrast, the Goldfields are a land of rich red soil and wild gold rush history.

The best way to experience this memorable mix of nature, history, adventure and discovery is to follow one of the region’s many self drive routes. Take a look at the four fascinating regions of Western Australia’s Golden Outback and discover the real Australian outback.
