Outback four wheel drive routes

The outback four wheel drive routes of Western Australia’s Golden Outback are among the most famous and thrilling long-distance four wheel drive tracks in the world. Featuring on the wish-lists of many off-road driving enthusiasts, they include the iconic Canning Stock Route, Gunbarrel Highway and John Holland Track.

As well as the challenge of a lifetime, outback four wheel drive routes offer the opportunity to enjoy the Golden Outback’s breathtaking scenery and warm country hospitality at farm and station stays, character outback pubs, hotels and holiday parks.

Some tracks are only suitable for high clearance four wheel drive vehicles and should only be attempted by confident drivers. Supplies and services are limited and road conditions can vary, so plan ahead, stock up on food, water and fuel and contact the local visitor centre for up-to-date track information.
