The ancient and timeless landscapes of Australia’s Golden Outback have been etched by the hands of time to sculpt rock formations of striking natural beauty.
Many of these formations have become icons of the region and form the subject of fascinating Aboriginal Dreamtime tales.
In the Wheatbelt, you’ll find many geological marvels. The most popular is Wave Rock near Hyden – a giant curved rock face that appears like a wave about to crash over the surrounding bushland.
Elachbutting Rock near Westonia is similarly formed. This huge granite outcrop with caves also has a wave-like formation and offers excellent photographic opportunities.
Kokerbin Rock in the Wheatbelt is also popular with photographers and nature lovers. It too is comprised of granite and its towering hulk offers a striking contrast to its flat surrounds.
