Kulin
Kulin is located in the heart of the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia’s Golden Outback, and offers a convenient stopover for those travelling between Perth and Esperance via the well known Tin Horse Highway.
The area has a diverse history of sandalwood production, gold fossicking and pastoralism, which can be explored throughout the Shire of Kulin. Now a booming Wheatbelt town, it has much to offer the visitor, from walk trails to a giant water slide.
Kulin attractions
- Follow the remarkable 20 kilometre Tin Horse Highway. It started as a bit of fun, with tin horse sculptures made by local farmers out of drums and odds and ends, but soon became a competition to build the biggest and the best horse.
- Catch the famous Bush Races and enjoy a great weekend packed full of fun for the whole family.
- Visit Kulin Museum. Built in the 1920s and originally operating as Butler’s Garage, it has been restored to house the town’s museum.
- Make the easy climb to the top of Jilakin Rock and enjoy spectacular views of Jilakin Lake and the surrounding Wheatbelt.
- Nature-lovers should head out to Buckley’s Breakaway - picturesque landform where erosion has cut through and formed spectacular white cliffs and gullies. A great place for the plant lover.
- See the Shire’s floral emblem, the eucalyptus macrocarpa, along the Macrocarpa Trail.
- Check out the Cooperative Bulk Handling Silos on the south-eastern edge of town – the largest grain receival point in the district.
