Mukinbudin
Mukinbudin is 296kms or just over three hours' drive northeast of Perth in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. The district is famous for its wheat and sheep farming and massive granite rock formations.
Mukinbudin attractions
The town was gazetted in 1922 and has many interesting historical and natural features. Come and explore the massive granite outcrops of Mukinbudin and the north-eastern Wheatbelt, including Beringbooding Rock, which has one of the largest rock water catchment tanks in Australia.
Visit Elachbutting Rock, a giant wave shaped formation and 40 metre rock tunnel you can walk through. Chiddarcooping is a 1,400 acre granite reserve including a white hidden valley and, in spring, spectacular white leschenaultia and red velvet flowers.
There are also numerous reserves throughout Mukinbudin and the north eastern Wheatbelt that will fascinate and amaze with the natural beauty of the native flora and fauna and are a great place to explore, four wheel drive or picnic, including Weira Reserve, Quanta Cutting Reserve and Yanneymooning Hill Reserve.
Mukinbudin Spring Festival and Art Exhibition - Commences with a grand opening of the Art Exhibition on the first Wednesday of September and runs for 4 days, with a carnival type atmosphere on the following Saturday including street markets, resident artists, local displays, kid and adult entertainment culminating with ‘Muka Idol’ on Saturday night.
