3 Days - Wildflower Way

Come drive this newly developed wildflower trail from Dalwallinu through the stunning Northern Wheatbelt, finishing in coastal Geraldton. Each spring this country bursts into bloom with ‘carpets’ of everlastings to through to the unique wreath flower.

Wildflowers bloom during spring time, which typically runs from late August to October in this region. Wildflowers displays are subject to seasonal variations and weather conditions so before heading out, we recommend you contact the relevant Visitor Centre for this region.

Day 1:  Perth – Dalwallinu
            (251 kilometres/3 hours)

Depart Perth and head north through the Swan Valley, then up the Great Northern Highway to New Norcia, a Benedictine Monastery town. Along the way make sure you stop at the Bindoon Bakery for morning tea. After sightseeing New Norcia, travel through wide open vistas to the delightful town of Dalwallinu, home of wheat and wattle. This afternoon call into the Dalwallinu Discovery Centre for updates on local wildflower locations.

Day 2: Dalwallinu – Morawa
           (149 kilometres/2 hours)

Today head further north and inspect nearly half of the 21 interpretive sites along the Wildflower Way. Visit locations such as Wubin, Buntine Rock, Latham and Caron Dam before calling into the Wheatbelt town of Perenjori, which has so much to see and do in the area. Perhaps then continue onto the town of Morawa for your overnight accommodation.

Day 3: Morawa – Geraldton
            (197 kilometres/2.5 hours)

This is the final day on the Wildflower Way. Inspect some 11 interpretive sites before your arrival in Geraldton. Along the way stop in the town of Mullewa and call into the local Visitor Centre. Also take the 600m walk through the legacy of Monsignor John Hawes. This afternoon, drive the 100kms to Geraldton stopping at the remaining 4 interpretative sites.
