UPDATE MARCH 24, 2020 - COVID-19
For our valued visitors to the Wheatbelt Way, we have prepared the following information to share with you about what COVID-19 may mean if you are thinking about visiting the Wheatbelt Way at present.
Our communities have identified the high traffic areas within the communities and are implementing the recommended hygiene and cleaning practices to keep everyone safe, but as this pandemic situation changes some services and facilities may be limited or may close and not be available in our communities.
Most events across the Wheatbelt Way have been suspended, postponed or cancelled. The Wheatbelt Way Events page has the current status of each event and can be viewed here.
Some accommodation as of the 23 March 2020 is currently temporarily closed including Shire of Trayning Caravan Park and Watson's Way Country Stay. We will keep you advised of this via the Wheatbelt Way website.
We ask that if you are coming to visit the Wheatbelt Way during this time that you are informed (know the facts by sourcing accurate information, from credible sources), prepared and are considerate of the needs of our communities in these challenging and uncertain times.
The Wheatbelt Way is a fascinating self-drive experience starting in Dowerin and spanning 800 kilometres with 24 interpretive sites through Western Australia's north-east Wheatbelt.
Travel to nine regional communities of Dowerin, Wyalkatchem, Koorda, Bencubbin, Beacon, Westonia, Mukinbudin, Nungarin and Trayning highlighting natural attractions to sites of historical importance.
Stay at any of the 13 FREE camp sites along the trail if you are up for some family camping or glamping, or head to any of the well maintained caravan parks located in the towns across the trail or stop the night in friendly Wheatbelt B&B’s, hotels and motels.
Drive to Dowerin 2 hours east of Perth or turn off the Great Eastern Highway at Carrabin and get started on your Wheatbelt Way adventure – it can be as long or as short as you like.
