Looking for a fun and educational way to liven up your holiday trip? Or make it an outing to a different location each weekend?
The Rotary Club of Matilda Bay have funded and designed the online pioneer adventure game to be played in our Western Australia backyard.
The game is a hybrid of a clue finding treasure hunt and a car rally that encourages people to explore our regional country towns and operates over 2020/2021 year.
The objective when you accept the challenge is to find and photograph nine heritage graves, answer a quiz and submit a short account of what you have learnt about the deceased pioneer and our travels during the challenge will also assist the country towns you visit.
You will learn about the pioneers, the ordinary men and women who built Western Australia as we know it today. The challenge is fun for all the family - join as a team and get the kids involved. Split up to find the heritage headstones, upload photos directly from your mobile device of what you have discovered. Plus get to know the locals while you search for the four clues in each of the three towns - although the answers are visible on buildings and close to the centre of town.
The Challenge can be taken as an individual, family or as a team and you can choose a portion of Route 120 or all of it from York to Albany. Head to www.pioneerchallenge.com.au to start your challenge now.
Entries will win prizes during the year and a grand prize at the end of the competition (one per year).
The funds raised from the Pioneer Challenge will go towards maintaining and expanding the King Edward Hospital Rose Garden and to build a meeting place for bereaved families.
