The Ilkurlka Visitor Centre sells diesel and opal fuel. Diesel is always available but opal/petrol must be pre-ordered. There is a workshop available for minor do-it-yourself repairs.

They sell basic groceries and have phone and internet services with Optus mobile coverage at Ilkurlka. They can also provide some guidance on current road conditions.

Ilkurlka and Tjuntjuntjara are the homes of the Spinifex People in the Great Victoria Desert. The Spinifex Arts Project produces very significant paintings by renowned artists who exhibit internationally and the Ilkurlka Visitor Centre has a select display of these artworks for viewing and purchase along with many wooden artefacts for display and sale.

An airstrip with night landing capabilities is available. The airstrip is used by the weekly mail/passenger plane, charters and for RFDS medivacs.

An RFDS medical chest is available at Ilkurlka for emergencies.
