Put Laverton’s Explorers Hall of Fame on your next Goldfields road trip bucket list

Are you visiting Laverton, heading out along the Anne Beadell Highway, or the Gunbarrel Highway on a road trip soon? Or maybe tackling the Golden Quest Discovery Trail around the Goldfields region? Make sure you stop by the newly refurbished Great Beyond Visitor Centre to visit the friendly staff to get all the information you need to travel the Laverton and Northern Goldfields area. It’s not just a visitor centre, there’s a museum to learn the history and heritage of the area, as well as a café to stretch your legs and grab a bite to eat and drink.

The red rugged landscapes of the Goldfields region make for some harsh conditions throughout the year, and the early pioneers and explorers were greeted with these unfamiliar and unforgiving conditions. The Explorers Hall of Fame museum showcases these times-gone-by, by allowing visitors to be transported back in time to learn all about the exploration of these heroes in the early days. Learn the remarkable stories of hardship, bravery and perseverance of the pioneers that have helped shape Laverton and the Goldfields into what it is today.

You can ‘listen’ to the explorers as their share their experiences, as the audio helps to bring the characters to life as no book can ever achieve. Using different types of media and technology, the Explorers Hall of Fame pays tribute to not only the explorers but the pioneers and women of the same area. Dating back to the gold rush era, through to the flora and fauna, pastoral history to the nickel boom of 1969, the Hall of Fame Museum provides a comprehensive overview of the history of the magnificent Goldfields region. The museum often plays home to visitors and locals alike, with events, exhibitions and a great atmosphere for all to enjoy. You’ll have a newfound respect and appreciation for the region before you continue your travels as you look at the land a little differently with your new knowledge.

Finish your visit with a visit to the café, for an extra chance to stretch your legs, enjoy something to eat and grab a coffee before setting off on your next adventure. There’s also a gift shop to pick up a souvenir or two to gift to a loved one or keep as a treasured memory of your Goldfields adventure. The Great Beyond Visitor Centre is open 7 days a week, so you won’t miss out on the opportunity to visit the state-of-the-art display in the Hall of Fame and take in your surroundings.

Don’t forget to experience more that Laverton has to offer, like the Laverton Outback Gallery, the historic Police Station Complex, the scenic Giles Breakaway and some incredible rugged countryside.
