Located two hours from Perth, make your first stop off in Dowerin. Say "Hi" to Rusty and Rosey, the iconic giant tin dog sculptures who were inspired by the nearby Tin Dog Creek. While exploring the town be sure to visit the Dowerin and Districts Museum which houses various artefacts from the town's history. Bencubbin is located 270 kilometres North East of Perth in the centre of Western Australia’s North East Wheatbelt. Stop off at Marshall Rock for a barbeque, bushwalking, bird watching or wildflower hunt (in season). One of the best reasons to visit the site has to be the spectacular views from the top of Marshall Rock where you can see Lake McDermott, vast agricultural lands and even the Bencubbin Wheatbins. Step back in time to view the Pergrandes Sheep Yards, the remains of an original and prominent homestead and sheep yards.

Beacon is the farthest north-easterly town in the Wheatbelt, approximately 320km North East of Perth. Visit the impressive Billiburing Rock for a picnic. Part of quite a large natural forest reserve, a relatively undisturbed bushland area, it is one of the largest outcrops in the area and provides many opportunities for birdwatchers. It has attractive wildflowers and native fauna can often be seen. A good view from the top of the rock to appreciate the beautiful sunsets offering many photographic opportunities. As the rock is quite close to the Vermin proof fence you often have good sightings of wedge-tailed Eagles, Budgerigars, Black Cockatoos, Purple-crowned Lorikeets, Major Mitchells and Mallee Fowl.
For another good picnic spot, head to Datjoin Well and Rock Reserve, home to several unique rock formations and filled with orchids and wildflowers (in season).

When you get to town check out the Hood Penn Museum to view local historical artefacts and learn about the pastoral and mining history of the area. Head out of town to Elachbutting Rock, a massive granite outcrop that's a popular camping, picnic and event spot. Awarded the title of being bigger, better and more pristine than any Wheatbelt granite rock formation, Elachbutting Rock is a must-see on your road trip.

Situated 296km northeast of Perth, Muckinbudin is famous for its wheat and sheep farming, wildflowers and massive granite rock formations. At the top of your list should be Beringbooding Rock. Home to the largest rock water catchment tank in Australia, the rock also has great picnic and camping facilities and a marked walk trail. Another interesting stop in point is the Wattining Historical Site, where you can see the remnants of the historical water carting settlement.

The tiny town of Nungarin is filled with character and history. The historic Mangowine Homestead is a must see museum where you can learn about Jane Adams - an early example of women breaking the stereotypical mould - who maintained the homestead and land herself during the 1880's gold rush.
