A short 15-kilometre drive out of town is a perfect little escape on the Dale River. The reserve is a sanctuary for birds and a hidden gem. There are two walk trails that have been marked in recent years. The wildflower loop / Djet Dordung is around 320 metres and is where you will discover orchids in the Spring.

The other longer route is the Riverwalk / Bilya Djena Koorliny which runs along the river for 900 metres. There is a bench at the halfway point to sit and take in the tranquil surroundings and the sound of birds carolling.
