In the mid-1980s residents from the sparsely populated Murchison Shire banded together to build the rammed earth Murchison Museum.

Step inside the museum to discover artefacts revealing everyday life for pioneers of the district. You’ll learn about how the region’s European inhabitants rode on the sheep’s back to develop a thriving pastoral industry.

The museum also features a herbarium showcasing the hardy and riotously colourful wildflowers that transform this region into carpets of colour after good winter rains.

To view the museum, please collect the key from the Shire of Murchison next door.
