Appreciate outback quirks and humour journeying along Tin Horse Highway. Over 70 eclectic tin horses made by Kulin community members dot paddocks along a 15km stretch, making it a stop-start scenario to take photos of the amusing roadside gallery.
Event not to miss
There's a good reason why colourful (and resourceful!) tin horses decorate the highway. Tin Horse Highway was conceived to promote the annual Kulin Bush Race. The big community event will occur this year on 27 – 29 September.. Besides races, the weekend hosts many events, live music, camping, and kids' entertainment - fun for everyone!
Kulin to Kondinin (24km)
Exercise your green thumb at Kondinin Community Garden. The volunteer-run community garden is where locals grow fresh produce and create murals. The space regularly hosts busy bee events and the annual 'Gourmet in the Garden' event.
Go from vivid gardens to see the changing hues of Statues Lake. At certain times during the year, the lake appears bright green and yellow due to algae formation, apparently most vivid in November. Observe the large iron stencil-shaped sculptures depicting farmers in action along the lake's shoreline.
Kondinin to Corrigin (48km)
Pay respects to a human's best friend at Corrigin Dog Cemetery. Established in 1974, it is the final resting place for over 200 pets, many with a headstone commemorating their life.
After paying tribute to much-loved pooches, head to Mallee Tree Café & Gallery. The all-day café serves breakfast and lunch as well as freshly baked sweets.

Join the local revelry at the annual Corrigin Ag Show. The century-old fair occurs every September and includes farming demonstrations, local entertainment, chocolate cake competitions, and truck rides for kids.

Enjoy a taste of the Mediterranean at York Olive Oil & Ice Cream Co. The much-loved gourmet store sells oil produced on-premise, tapenades, jams and spreads. Treat yourself to an ice cream with locally-inspired flavours such as jarrah honey and Carnarvon mangoes for dessert. Make sure to purchase a loaf of freshly wood-fired bread - the shop is renowned for it!
