Kukerin

Kukerin is a friendly farm community situated some 316 kilometres south-east of Perth. It is believed that the small town of Kukerin takes its name from two early sandalwood cutters, Cookie and Ring. By the mid 1870s, John Holland (after whom the Holland Track is named) had taken up a pastoral lease of 9,000 acres at Merilup Spring (later renamed Kukerin) and established a sandalwood depot.

Cambinata Yabbies, located on the Dumbleyung Lake Grace Road, Kukerin is a family company that diversified from wheat farming to also process and market ‘live yabbies’, pickled yabbies and abalone and fresh honey. They also proudly own and operate the recently opened Mary’s Farm Cottages, beautiful motel, 1 bedroom and two bedroom units all with private facilities overlooking the wheat fields.

Emu Essence is a locally operated company producing natural skin care products containing emu oil and are one of Australia’s biggest manufacturers and exporters.

In 1928 the Kukerin Hotel began trading and it's still a popular stopping post for visitors, providing drinks, meals and accommodation.
